The Cornwallis Crescent Community Orchard was first planted on Saturday March 12th 2016 and has been transformed into a community asset and a legacy for the future. There has been a variety of fruit trees planted across the site including Braeburn, Granny Smith, Golden Delicious, Keelie, Blue Permain, Baker Delicious, Coxes Orange Pippin and Worcester Permain Apples, Stellar and Sunburst Cherry, Victoria Plum and Comice, William and Conference Pear trees with a variety of fruit bushes including Red and Green Gooseberries, Redcurrant and Blackcurrant which have been planted in raised beds. The orchard also features a wild flower meadow area which not only will bring a flash of colour to the area but will also provide a valuable resource to Bees and other insects.
In March the seating area will be returned to the orchard and the site is also home to two public sculptures that have been relocated from Commercial Road.
